Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract under applicable law. The Service is intended for personal, non-commercial use.

2. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable law.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

• Plans. Pro and Ultra are paid auto-renewing subscriptions billed monthly through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
• Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Cancellation. You can cancel any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds. Refunds are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play under their respective policies.
• Price changes. If we change subscription prices, we will notify you in advance and you may cancel before the change takes effect.

5. Third-Party Services and Plaid

Bank connections are provided through Plaid Inc. By connecting a financial account, you authorize Sentinel Defender to share account information you provide with Plaid and to receive transaction data through Plaid. Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy. Other third-party services include Supabase (auth and database), Google Cloud Run (backend hosting), Apple App Store and Google Play (subscriptions), and Google AdMob (advertising on free tiers).

6. No Financial, Investment, or Tax Advice

Sentinel Defender is provided for informational and educational purposes only. Benchmarks, forecasts, tax-deduction tags, and other features are estimates produced by software and do not constitute professional financial, investment, accounting, or tax advice. No fiduciary relationship is created by your use of the Service. Always consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service in violation of any law or to facilitate illegal activity.
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service.
• Upload or transmit malware, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
• Use the Service to provide financial advice to third parties or to operate a competing service.

8. Intellectual Property

Sentinel Defender, including its software, design, branding, and content, is owned by BIHM Inc. and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you. You retain ownership of the personal data you provide.

9. Termination

• You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account.
• We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law or by a third-party provider (such as Plaid, Apple, or Google).
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BIHM Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if you have not paid us anything.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold BIHM Inc. harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, except that either party may seek injunctive or equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

14. Apple-Specific Terms

If you downloaded Sentinel Defender from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and BIHM Inc. only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service or its content. The license is granted on the terms of the Apple Standard EULA except where these Terms expand the scope of the license. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the effective date above and prompt you to re-accept inside the app. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
